Olympique Lyonnais is a French football club based in Lyon that was formed as Lyon Olympique Universitaire in 1899. Recently they had a tremendous streak in the new millenia winning the Ligue 1 title seven consecutive years ... no other French club has accomplished this. In addition to the league Lyon have won seven Trophée des Champions and four Coupe de France titles. Lyon play their home matches at the Stade de Gerland which can hold over 41,000 fans 41,044-seat Stade de Gerland, Lyon. OL were also a member of the G14 group of leading European football clubs. In 2008, they were one of the founding members of the newly created European Club Association.
