The Eredivisie is the top football league in the Netherlands and currently sponsored by the Sponsorloterij lottery. There are 18 Dutch football clubs within the league and the league is currently ranked 9th by UEFA.
Each team faces every other twice during the season (home and away). At the end of each season, the bottom club is automatically relegated to the second division of the Dutch league system.
