Since their establishment in 1881 they have won the French league five times, last time in 1999. Bordeaux plays home-matches in the Stade Chaban Delmas (named after mayor Jacques Chaban-Delmas). Bordeaux's greatest European triumph was getting to the UEFA Cup final in 1996 ... which they lost.
